PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
ROYAL TUSK – “Reflection”
It’s a little bit punk, a little bit moody, a little bit bluesy, dynamic, and powerfully energetic. In some ways, it feels like Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters and Nirvana worlds colliding. In other ways it feels like a blending of styles that I’ve never heard before. That’s what makes Royal Tusk’s “Reflection” so captivating. By infusing elements of stoner, blues, and punk rock with grunge, this Canadian powerhouse has proven that niches and labels are much less relevant than passion and execution. Could Royal Tusk write songs that would be a natural fit for Active Rock radio? There is no doubt in my mind. This is a modern band that possesses the type of old school talent that used to separate the wheat from the chaff when the barriers to entry were much greater. Rather than taking the common approach and delivering songs that fit in the sweet spot of Active Rock, Royal Tusk is blazing their own trail and letting the chips fall where they may. They already had success with this approach on “Aftermath,” so there’s no reason why they can’t do the same with “Reflection.”
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (By Adam Waldman)
As predicted last week, Five Finger Death Punch, Greta Van Fleet, and Rival Sons all surpassed Ghost to create an interesting Top 3. Rival Sons leapfrogged FFDP to take over the #1 position this week, but they shouldn’t get too comfortable. The difference between #1 and #3 is only 60 spins, which means that any of the three can easily be on top next week. Three Days Grace and Disturbed will join the fray next week in a Top 5 that is all but guaranteed. These five should remain at the top for the rest of March, and quite likely, beyond.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THE BREAKDOWN (by Jon Loveless)
NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
The past few weeks of chart movement come to a sudden halt with no new songs in the Top 10 this week and only one new member (Thrice) of the Top 20…
Only one truly new member of the Top 30 as well, and that’s the week’s highest debuting song in the published chart as Motley Crue returns to the airwaves…
The Top 40 does have three new arrivals, with Buckcherry, Sevendust, and Savage After Midnight all hitting a new benchmark with their latest releases…
Five more songs debut in the final section of the Top 50, including the debut of Saul, new I Prevail and a (thus far) album cut from Five Finger Death Punch…
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Rival Sons – “Do Your Worst”
Breaking Benjamin – “Tourniquet”
Papa Roach – “Elevate”
FALLING
Glorious Sons – “S.O.S.”
Metallica – “Halo On Fire”
Ghost – “Dance Macabre”
TRENDS & OBSERVATIONS
Even tougher sledding than usual for bands trying to get airplay for their singles as album cuts / alternate singles take up 2-3 slots in this week’s chart.
