PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
LIGHT THE TORCH – “The Safety Of Disbelief”
Light The Torch – featuring Howard Jones (ex. Killswitch Engage) on vocals – made their debut this year. Well, sort of. The band did exist a few years ago as Devil You Know, but changed the name for a few reasons. The moniker doesn’t really matter in the scheme of things. What matters most is the precision blending of power and melody in “The Safety Of Disbelief.” Jones, with his passionate, distinct vocal style, makes this song instantly recognizable on any Active Rock station. The adrenaline kicks into overdrive with an impressive slap bass fill that takes you back in time to the heyday of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. “The Safety Of Disbelief” is one of those songs that you never get tired of hearing. It deserves to have a nice run at radio.
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (By Adam Waldman)
This is Shinedown’s last week in the #1 position. With their spins declining and Bad Wolves (f. Diamante) and Godsmack rising, it’s a lock that one of these will be the new #1 next week. The pair finished the week within 50 spins of each other. Bad Wolves has the inside track to have another #1 song this year, but it wouldn’t be shocking if Godsmack leapfrogs into the top spot next week.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
Three Days Grace and Pop Evil both reach the Top 20, the only notable movement in the upper portion of the latest chart…
Last week’s only new Top 40 song is this week’s only new Top 30 song, the latest from Greta Van Fleet…
The mighty Metallica is the highlight of a trio of songs making their Top 40 debut, two of those making their published chart premiere…
Three more tracks also hit the chart for the first time, including the latest from Like A Storm and Sunflower Dead.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Godsmack – “When Legends Rise”
Halestorm – “Do Not Disturb”
Three Days Grace – “Right Left Wrong”
FALLING
Slash f. Myles Kennedy – “Driving Rain”
Shinedown – “Get Up”

TRENDS & OBSERVATIONS
Unusual to see the release pattern that Metallica has chosen, with a sixth single from their album Hardwired … to Self-Destruct . It’s been just over two years since the album was released, and just over a year since they released the most recent single.
