PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
ROYAL TUSK – “Aftermath”
Hearing “Aftermath” on SiriusXM’s Octane this week immediately had me reaching for the dial to crank it up. This is how the process of discovery starts. The next step is researching the band. Based on their social media bio and their website, you have to think that these Canadian rockers are perfectly content to let the music do the talking. The only real information that I could find on the band was from their previous record label (they’re now on eOne), from their 2016 release. They are described as “a heavy, guitar-driven band with hints of Americana and Soul.” One listen to “Aftermath,” and you’ll know right away that there is something unique about Royal Tusk even if their sound is a natural fit on Active Rock radio. Their sound is current, but the larger-than-life riffs harken back to the days of arena rock, as does the tasty guitar lead and the soaring vocals. With an intensity that is reminiscent of early Motley Crue meets Metallica, Royal Tusk makes a statement with “Aftermath” that shows that they are much more than just another Active Rock band.
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (By Adam Waldman)
Last week, it was predicted that Ghost’s reign would come to an end in the coming weeks, but it would have taken a big drop combined with a big gain from one of the challengers. Five Finger Death Punch had the inside track to be the next chart-topper, but as mentioned, Halestorm had the momentum to possibly leapfrog FFDP. It happened this week, but both are so close that it’s a virtual deadlock. The gap can easily be closed by either as soon as next week. It wouldn’t be a shock to see these two in the top two positions for next few weeks. It’s likely that both will get their chance at the top before being challenged by Breaking Benjamin or Three Days Grace.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
New blood in the Top 10 this week with both Badflower and Greta Van Fleet moving up…
Slash (f. Myles Kennedy) continues to climb, the only new entry in this week’s Top 20…
Fozzy enjoys roughly a 33% increase in airplay to be part of a trio of new entries in the Top 30…
Three different songs show up in the Top 40 this week, but only two are new to the tier. Continuing a theme we saw last week, Theory Of A Deadman climbs three spots back into the Top 40 despite actually have fewer spins than the week before….
Four tracks debut in the Top 50,including another song from a very strong Parkway Drive album.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Fozzy – “Burn Me Out”
Greta Van Fleet – “When The Curtain Falls”
Slash f. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators – “Driving Rain”
FALLING
Godsmack – “Bulletproof”
Alice In Chains – “The One You Know”
Foo Fighters – “The Line”
TRENDS AND OBSERVATIONS
The odd trend I mentioned last week continues, with four songs gaining positions despite losing spins. Coincidentally as much as anything, the same number of songs lost spots despite increasing their airplay.
