PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
THE DEAD DAISIES – “Dead And Gone”
The Dead Daisies were already on the scene long before the classic rock revival started to take hold for modern hard rock bands. Of course, this rock music collective has always featured musicians that made their bones when classic rock was current, so their sound is expected. Still, most don’t deliver like The Dead Daisies. Their sound is particularly impressive when you factor in the transient nature of its members. The cohesive chemistry continues with “Dead And Gone,” a song that is equal parts southern flavor and timeless blues rock. Frontman John Corabi is mostly known for being a hard rock vocalist. While there is definitely a hint of Deep Purple and Ian Gillan on this track, the southern rock influences shine through most on “Dead And gone.” As usual, the band has a big arena sound complemented by shredding guitar that take you back in time. The Dead Daisies may just be the perfect bridge between the past and the present.
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (By Adam Waldman)
As predicted last week, Five Finger Death Punch, Greta Van Fleet, Rival Sons, Three Days Grace, and Disturbed make up the Top 5. The Top 3 were only separated by 60 spins last week, so it was anyone’s guess who would emerge on top this week. What is somewhat surprising is that FFDP remains in the #2 spot after being leapfrogged for a second consecutive week by the #3 song from the previous week. Last week, it was Rival Sons claiming the throne. This week, it’s Greta Van Fleet. Both are rising artists with distinct classic rock influences. You have to imagine that FFDP will get their shot at the top, but it’s interesting to see the types of artists that left them coming up just short two weeks in a row.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THE BREAKDOWN (by Jon Loveless)
NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
Second week in a row with the same Top 10…
Papa Roach and Motley Crue both break into the Top 20, the latter almost doubling their airplay from the week prior…
Only new member of the entire Top 30 is Shinedown, with a song that’s been getting steady airplay on a few outlets for months already…
Two new arrivals in the Top 40, led by the week’s highest debut from Black Keys…
Two other songs make their published chart debuts this week, the latest single from Alice In Chains and Hands Like Houses‘ latest that has struggled to gain traction for almost two months before breaking through.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Greta Van Fleet – “You’re The One”
Pop Evil – “Be Legendary”
I Prevail – “Breaking Down”
FALLING
Glorious Sons – “S.O.S.”
Metallica – “Halo On Fire”
Ghost – “Dance Macabre”
TRENDS & OBSERVATIONS
It isn’t unusual for a song to get boosted by cracking the published Top 50. The performance of “Sick” from Hands Like Houses will be a good test for that. Will the move up be enough to push more stations into joining the loyal handful that have been on the song for several weeks already?
