PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
MONSTER TRUCK – “Denim Danger”
As the trend towards a classic rock sound continues, you’ll notice that some bands sound like they are creating music to tap into the trend, while others feel like they emerged from a time capsule that was buried in the ’70s. Monster Truck falls into the latter category. There authenticity of the ’70s sound of “Denim Danger” takes you back in time to the heyday of bands like Deep Purple and U.F.O. Hell, even the title takes you back in time. With the renewed enthusiasm for real classic rock and roll, maybe it’s only a matter of time until we start wearing denim jackets (and vests) with patches of our favorite rock artwork on the back. The Monster Truck imagery would fit perfectly on the back of a denim jacket. But this band is more than just a throwback to the glory days of a few generations of rock music fans. The beauty of “Denim Danger” lies within its simple, straightforward, timeless rock and roll approach.
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (By Adam Waldman)
Bad Wolves (f. Diamante) was one of the more popular songs of the year in Active Rock. “Can You Hear Me” was rewarded with a week at the top, but now yields to Godsmack once again. “When Legends Rise” will end the year as the top song, and has a decent chance to begin 2019 in the same position. While The Glorious Sons are within striking distance, it will take a meaningful drop in spins for Godsmack to take over the top spot in the next week or so. On a normal week, it would be even odds, but given the sort of auto-pilot mode of programmers around the holidays, it doesn’t seem as likely to happen. They will be the next #1 in the coming weeks unless something surprising happens.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THE BREAKDOWN (by Jon Loveless)
NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
The Top 10 songs are the same as last week, with the only change being the order…
They cracked the Top 40 two weeks ago, Top 30 last week, only natural then that Metallica moves into the Top 20 this week…
Badflower and Diamante both make it into the Top 30…
There are actually no changes in the composition of the entire Top 40 in the latest update…
Two songs debut in the lower part of the Top 50, and another returns after an absence. Those would be the next single from Breaking Benjamin, this year’s holiday hit from Small Town Titans, and the back-to-rocking Royal Bliss.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Metallica – “Halo On Fire”
Papa Roach – “Who Do You Ttust?”
Three Days Grace – “Right Left Wrong”
FALLING
Avenged Sevenfold – “Mad Hatter”
Bad Wolves – “Hear Me Now”
Disturbed – “Are You Ready”
TRENDS & OBSERVATIONS
Hopefully, the attention that Small Town Titans have gotten for their take on “Mr. Grinch” will get stations on board with their future releases. Their regular output clearly shows that they’re ready for more than just holiday/novelty airplay.
