PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
ANY GIVEN SIN – “Dynamite“
I can’t speak about Any Given Sin’s overall sound since I just discovered them this week, but I can tell you that “Dynamite” instantly grabbed my attention. There are a lot of bands that have a sound that’s tailor made for Active Rock, but it’s more in a generic kind of way. Any Given Sin has that sound, but not at all in a generic way. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought that this was a Shinedown song. That is meant as a compliment, as I firmly believe that Shinedown is as good as it gets with modern hard rock acts. As I listened to the track several times over, I started to hear hints of Stereoside with the big, infectious hook, and some Def Leppard with the melodic, crunchy riffs. The main purpose for radio singles is to draw attention to a band, so that you are inspired to check out more of their music, and hopefully go see them when they come to your down. With “Dynamite,” Any Given Sin has accomplished that mission with flying colors. I’m looking forward to checking out more music from a band that will undoubtedly be featured on Hard Rock Daddy much more in the future.
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (By Adam Waldman)
Disturbed will be knocked from the top spot by Greta Van Fleet no later than two weeks from now, but most likely next week. There are no other artists within striking distance, so unless something totally unexpected happens next week, the hottest new band in Active Rock is a virtual lock to top the charts with their latest single, “When The Curtain Falls.” Shinedown is the next likely contender, but it will take them at least a few weeks to be a serious threat.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THE BREAKDOWN (by Jon Loveless)
NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
Only one change in the Top 10 this week as Bring Me The Horizon slips past Alice In Chains for the 10th spot (same as AIC slipped into the spot just last week)…
Underoath has the only new entry in the Top 20…
The week’s high debut is the only song making it’s Top 30 premiere, that’s the latest single from Halestorm…
Chevelle climbs into the Top 40, along with the chart debut of punk-influenced Canadian alt-rockers The Dirty Nil…
It’s apparently a good week to have Canadian ties on U.S. radio (even if it’s by way of Las Vegas) as Palaye Royale has the only other new song in the Top 50.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Godsmack – “When Legends Rise”
Papa Roach – “Who Do You Trust?”
Pop Evil – “Be Legendary”
FALLING
Badflower – “Ghost”
Grands0n – “Blood & Water”
Fozzy – “Burn Me Out”
TRENDS & OBSERVATIONS
Another ho-hum week for active rock radio, aside from a breakout debut that seems to have come from virtually nowhere. Radio gonna radio I guess.
