PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
MONSTER TRUCK – “Evolution”
“Evolution” is an appropriate title for Monster Truck’s latest single. Evolution is defined as “the gradual development of something.” With the classic rock revival in full swing, it’s always enjoyable to listen to music that is rooted in the past, but with a current twist to keep things fresh. Canada’s Monster Truck is an unapologetic rock and roll band, who admittedly, only writes music to please themselves. The band cites their appreciation for hard rock, punk, and classic rock in their bio. “Evolution” adds in a bit of a psychedelic rock to this modernized classic rock tune. It’s interesting to hear a song that sounds current with elements that come directly from the early ’70s. The song is fairly straightforward, but there’s beauty in the simplicity. This is the type of track that will definitely stand out on any Active Rock playlist.
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (By Adam Waldman)
Shinedown started to decline last week after hitting #1, but they reversed course this week and started to gain again. Still, with Godsmack continuing to rise, there was no change at the top. Ghost continues to rise on strong spin gains, but still trails Godsmack by around 400 spins. Either Godsmack or Shinedown will be #1 next week (even if they start to decline). Ghost still looks destined to reach the top, but it most likely won’t come until sometime in July.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
From Ashes To New leads a trio of songs into the Top 10 this week…
Alice In Chains leads a trio of new entries into the Top 20…
No surprise to see Halestorm reach the Top 30 quickly, joined there by a relative quick moving Like A Storm…
Four songs are new to the Top 40 this week, led by the week’s highest debuting single from Nothing More. Also climbing are Ledger, The Record Company, and 10 Years…
Four other songs make their official published chart debut this week, with Thrice providing the strongest of the lot. Royal Bliss also cracks the list, some two months after first receiving airplay.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Ghost – “Rats”
Halestorm – “Uncomfortable”
Alice In Chains – “The One You Know”
FALLING
Three Days Grace – “The Mountain”
Imagine Dragons – “Whatever It Takes”
Royal Blood – “Hole In Your Heart”
TRENDS AND OBSERVATIONS
The summer doldrums liven up a bit, although some of the movement is more attributable to songs (such as Fozzy’s “Painless”) falling to the wayside after extended runs, rather than to particular strength for some tracks that enjoyed noticeable gains in position more than spins.
