PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
SHAMAN’S HARVEST – “The Come Up”
The exposure that modern southern rock gets on Active Rock radio is somewhat limited, but there are a handful of bands that have managed to breakthrough and become mainstays in the format. With each release, Shaman’s Harvest continues to stake their claim as representatives of southern rock on Active Rock radio. The band’s distinct sound is due in large part to Nathan Hunt’s soulful vocals.
In addition to being a catchy, foot-stomping tune, “The Come Up” tackles a subject that affects us all…negativity on social media due to the issues that we are dealing with as a nation. While the subject matter may be serious, the tone of the song is upbeat, and puts you in a good mood. There is definitely a Shaman’s Harvest sound, but that doesn’t mean that the band is afraid to push the envelope and be a bit adventurous (as they were with their inspired cover of Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana.”). “The Come Up” whets the appetite for what’s to come when Red Hands, Black Deeds is released later this month.
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (By Adam Waldman)
The end of Stone Sour’s reign at the top was predicted for this week, but they managed to hold on despite a slight decline in spins. It looked like Foo Fighters had a clear path to the top, but things got interesting this week as Metallica narrowed the gap between the two. At this point, it’s up to the powers that be to decide which one of these heavyweights will be next to wear the crown. Both should surpass Stone Sour next week, but it’s anyone’s guess who will be #1 and who will be #2. No other songs are within striking distance, so unless Stone Sour has a major drop this coming week, they should remain in the top 3.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Greta Van Fleet – “Highway Tune”

Prophets Of Rage – “Living On The 110”
FALLING
Volbeat (f. Danko Jones) – “Black Rose”
A Day To Remember – “Bullfight”
As Lions – “Aftermath”
TRENDS AND OBSERVATIONS
One heck of a three-song battle for the top spot this week, separated by little more than one percent of total spins. The veteran bands in the mix are certainly not unaccustomed to fighting it out for chart position, as this is the fourth consecutive week that they’ve occupied the top three positions in some order. Early week trends suggest that the same trio could be atop the chart next week as well, albeit in a different order next time around.
WRAP-UP
That’s all for this week. Tune in to HardRockDaddy.com every Tuesday for the HRD Radio Report. \m/
