PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
FOZZY – “Judas”
Chris Jericho make have become famous through his wrestling career, but he is just as deserving of the recognition for his music. His vocals on Fozzy’s latest single, “Judas,” stylistically fall within the same wheelhouse as Zakk Wylde with Black Label Society and Ozzy Osbourne. There’s a raw, aggressive power to “Judas” that makes you stand up and take notice from the first note. Infused with the heavy, driving, arena rock sound of the ‘80s, “Judas” still has a modern vibe that is perfect for Active Rock radio. This is one of the best songs of 2017 (so far).
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (by Adam Waldman)
As predicted last week, Seether takes over the #1 position with their latest single, “Let You Down.” The song had been battling Starset’s “Monster” in recent weeks, but started to pull ahead over the past few weeks. With Starset starting to plateau (for the moment), it looks like Seether should enjoy several weeks at the top before any real challenge emerges. At the moment, the songs showing the most strength in the top 10 are “Black Rose” by Volbeat (f. Danko Jones) and “Song #3” by Stone Sour, but both are over 600 spins from the top. Even if Seether plateaus, their lead is substantial enough to have at least a three-week run at the top. The only wildcard would be Starset somehow regaining momentum once again, but from the looks of things, it seems that #2 is the best that they can hope for this time around.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

TRENDS AND OBSERVATIONS
A couple of examples of timing and coordination between radio and radio promotion on this week’s chart. Papa Roach falls out of the #1 spot in the same week that their next single (“American Dreams”) is listed as going for adds. Seether takes over the top spot in the same week their new album ( Poison The Parish ) is officially released.
