PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (By Adam Waldman)
FLAW – “Fatal Fall”
Flaw’s “Fatal Fall” blends a variety of influences, making it one of the more interesting tracks that I’ve listened to recently. There’s an Active Rock vibe that is reminiscent of bands like Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace, a dissonant darkness that taps into the Alice In Chains vibe, a surprising hint of early Iron Maiden (“Prodigal Son”) and the heavy riffs of early Metallica. While the song conjures up a number of other artists, the end result is something that is unique, and should find a place on Active Rock playlists…
PUBLISHER’S PREDICTIONS (by Adam Waldman)
It looked like Highly Suspect’s “My Name Is Human” had a chance to ride out the year in the #1 position. As predicted last week, the only way for them to drop was to flatten out and have Ghost bolster its spins. Well, this week, Highly Suspect remained flat and Ghost picked up some momentum. There’s a chance that “My Name Is Human” will squeeze out one more week at the top, but it’s just as likely that Ghost rises to the top next week. As long as Metallica doesn’t cannibalize themselves with another overlapping single, they seemed destined to reach #1 early in 2017 with “Atlas, Rise!”
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THE BREAKDOWN by Jon Loveless
KING OF THE HILL
Highly Suspect reaches a full month at the #1 spot on the Mediabase Active Rock Airplay chart with virtually no change in airplay. “My Name Is Human” lost one spin (out of nearly 2,200) versus the previous week, while Ghost and Volbeat both enjoyed growth but not nearly enough to dethrone the leaders.
NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
A Day To Remember has a nice jump to reach the Top 10…
Korn and In Flames move into the Top 20…
New to the Top 30 this week are Through Fire and Sick Puppies…
From Ashes To New and Bleeker now have Top 40 active rock singles…
Badflower has the highest chart debut this week, breaking into the Top 50 for the first time.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
RISING
Ghost – “Square Hammer”
Metallica – “Atlas, Rise”
Green Day – “Still Breathing”
FALLING
Disturbed – “Open Your Eyes”
Metallica – “Moth Into Flame”
Alter Bridge – “Show Me A Leader”
TRENDS AND OBSERVATIONS
While the end of the year slowdown now looks to be in full effect, it seems as though we’ll see at least one more change at the top of the Active Rock airplay chart before the year officially ends. Ghost appears well-positioned, and has momentum with only two charts remaining in the calendar year.
WRAP-UP
That’s all for this week. Tune in to HardRockDaddy.com every Tuesday for the HRD Radio Report. \m/

Why do some of the “Chart Position From Last Week” values not match up from the actual chart positions from last week’s post? For example, Memphis May Fire was not on last week’s top 50 chart, yet on this week’s chart, its position from last week is listed as 50. I know this is just copied from Mediabase, but do you know why Mediabase’s data is inconsistent like that?
