PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (by Adam Waldman)
EVE TO ADAM – “Lucky”
With Memorial Day fast-approaching, there are a handful of military support songs that are top of mind. One of the most recent memorable songs in this category is Eve To Adam’s “Immortal.” The song – from the band’s most recent album, Locked & Loaded – was an Active Rock hit in 2013. While the band has remained active on the road, it’s been nearly three years since they’ve released new material. The subject matter of Eve To Adam’s latest single, “Lucky,” is far less serious, but this energetic rocker has everything that you look for in an Active Rock song. What’s interesting about Eve To Adam is the fact that they are a modern hard rock band with an old-school mentality, one that embraces the fun, partying element that once defined the genre. Both the lyrics and the video for “Lucky” offer up a refreshing change-of-pace in the Active Rock format. Hopefully, the band will have the same “luck” with this song as they did with “Immortal” a few years back.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THE BREAKDOWN by Jon Loveless
KING OF THE HILL
Volbeat extends their margin over the nearest competition to remain atop the Mediabase Active Rock Airplay Chart for a second straight week. As expected, Five Finger Death Punch leapfrogged Bring Me The Horizon for the #2 spot, with Sixx A.M. sliding into the #4 position.
NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
New to the Top 10 is the first single from the Red Hot Chili Peppers in more than four years. Apparently, absence has made radio’s heart grow fonder…
Newcomer Kaleo joins Pop Evil as new arrivals in the Top 20…
Three new arrivals in the Top 30, all of which point to the strong influence of alternative music on the Active Rock format in 2016…
An uncharacteristically slow-growing single from Breaking Benjamin and the lead single from the new Tremonti album make their Top 40 debuts…
Chevelle leads a trio of songs into the Top 50, with a strong move likely to follow.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
MOVING UP
Volbeat – “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown”
Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Dark Necessities”
Shinedown – “Asking For It”
DROPPING DOWN
Red Sun Rising – “Emotionless”
Disturbed – “The Sound Of Silence”
Deftones – “Prayers/Triangles”
TRENDS AND OBSERVATIONS
Just like Volbeat made a rapid ascent up the chart, it appears that Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to do the same (perhaps even more quickly). Time will tell if that adds up to domination of the top of the chart for a couple of months, or if it means short-lived singles that come and go very quickly.
