PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK (by Adam Waldman)
DROWNING POOL – “By The Blood”
The latest single from Drowning Pool (off of their upcoming 2016 release) is an aggressive, balls-to-the-wall anthem dripping with testosterone (and of course, blood) in the same vein as another fairly recent blood-thirsty track – Hellyeah’s “Sangre Por Sangre (Blood For Blood).” While the Hellyeah influence is apparent, there are also more subtle influences of Alice In Chains and even some 80s metal vocals at times. The upbeat rhythm has a groove that you might not expect in a song this heavy, some psychedelic nuances and shredding guitars. “By The Blood” continues the evolution of Drowning Pool, building on the foundation that they set with songs like “Bodies” and “One Finger And A Fist.” This song should be Active Rock gold.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THE BREAKDOWN by Jon Loveless
KING OF THE HILL
Although the outcome of the weekly chart remained in doubt right up until the weekend, congratulations are in order for Disturbed as “The Light” becomes the new #1 song on the Mediabase Active Rock airplay chart. Bring Me The Horizon slips back to #2 for the week, but Five Finger Death Punch is trying to “wash everyone away” with a strong surge in airplay over the past few days. A similar clash of titans looms down the chart a bit with Seether and Shinedown both on track for possible #1s after New Year’s.
NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
No new arrivals in the Top 10 this week. In fact, no new milestone positions attained until all the way down at #30 where Muse climbs past a falling Godsmack…
New to the Top 40 this week is the latest from Foo Fighters, joined in the group by Failure Anthem and Escape The Fate…
Debuting in the Top 50 is the latest from Drowning Pool as well as the Stone Sour/Lzzy Hale cover of a Rolling Stones classic.
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
MOVING UP
Five Finger Death Punch – “Wash It All Away”
Pop Evil – “Ways To Get High”
Highly Suspect – “Bloodfeather”
DROPPING DOWN
Bring Me The Horizon – “Throne”
Breaking Benjamin – “Angels Fall”
Chris Cornell – “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart”
FUTURES REPORT
The final weeks of the year seem destined to follow the pattern of much of 2015, with established artists at the core of the format seeing significant success. There have been a few breakthroughs but, by and large, the year has been dominated by familiar names. This trend is likely to hold true right into the new year.
WRAP-UP
That’s all for this week. Tune in to HardRockDaddy.com every Tuesday for the HRD Radio Report. \m/
