PUBLISHER’S PICK OF THE WEEK by Adam Waldman
ALL THAT REMAINS – “Victory Lap”
All That Remains dials it up a notch with the third single off of The Order Of Things with “Victory Lap,” a more ballsy, aggressive track than the previous two singles. Gritty riffs, shredding guitars and a driving rhythm work together to set the tone for Phil Labonte to deliver a nice blend of melodic vocals and angry growls. “Victory Lap” offers a modern twist on the heavy metal sound of the ’80s. This a track that will have you reaching for the dial to crank up the volume when it comes on, giving a nice shot of adrenaline to any Active Rock playlist. All That Remains had a nice run with “This Probably Won’t End Well” earlier in the year and recently with “For You.” If this single gets the attention that it deserves, ATR will be taking another “Victory Lap” once again in the not-too-distant future as this song climbs the charts.
HRD SPIN CONTROL (by Adam Waldman and Jon Loveless)
Each week, we will share the songs that we think should be added to rotations, alongside the songs that we feel should be dropped from rotations, either because they are a bad fit for the format, or because they have run their course and it’s time for a new single from the artist.

THE BREAKDOWN by Jon Loveless
KING OF THE HILL
By a narrow margin (17 spins out of more than 1,800), there’s a new #1 on the Mediabase Active Rock airplay chart. It’s the most impressive debut possible for Red Sun Rising who just slipped past Pop Evil to dethrone them after a month. #3 Breaking Benjamin looks like a good bet to be next in line, as they increased their lead over the previously hard-charging Chris Cornell who stays at #4.
NOTABLE CHART MOVEMENT
Disturbed roars into the Top 10 with their latest single, “The Light”…
The only new arrival in the Top 30 last week is now the only new arrival in Top 20 this week, as Five Finger Death Punch makes another big jump up the ranks with their latest single, “Wash The World Away”…
Wilson moves into the Top 30 despite basically flat airplay. Theory Of A Deadman also reaches that tier and with a bit of momentum…
New to the Top 40 this week is the debut single from Separations…
Three new songs join the Top 50, led strongly by the next hit from Nothing More, “Here’s To The Heartache.”
THREE UP & THREE DOWN
MOVING UP
Breaking Benjamin – “Angels Fall”
Disturbed – “The Light”
Five Finger Death Punch – “Wash It All Away”
DROPPING DOWN
Pop Evil – “Footsteps”
Five Finger Death Punch – “Jekyll & Hyde”
Saint Asonia – “Better Place”
FUTURES REPORT
Given the dominance of established acts for most of 2015, it’s hard to not feel good about seeing a new artist like Red Sun Rising claim the top spot with their debut single. With so many big names having relatively new singles residing in the upper part of the chart, right now may be one of the last (if not THE last) new artist to accomplish that feat this year. Their stay at the top may be short-lived, with Breaking Benjamin already gaining ground on Red Sun Rising just mere hours after the chart became official, but regardless of length, they have a #1 song to their credit, something that no one can ever take away from them.
