MUSICAL GUEST: Billy Sheehan (The Winery Dogs)
Sheehan talked about going into the studio to record The Winery Dogs second album. The band will be touring starting in October. After over 100 live shows, the band’s chemistry has really come together, and the writing process is going very well. He’s still doing Mr. Big, but they don’t play many live shows because most of the guys are family men and don’t want to tour extensively. Billy has been approached on more than one occasion to join Van Halen, but because he is such a big fan of Michael Anthony, he decided not to do it. Eddie Van Halen knew about him from when Talas opened for Van Halen in 1980.

BEHIND THE SCENES – Joe Elliott (Def Leppard)
The band will be doing a big tour this summer. Eddie asked about the meteoric rise of Def Leppard during the Pyromania tour. The videos getting played on MTV were a huge factor in the rise of the band. The Pyromania tour started at the Marquee in London in front of 600 people, and concluded at Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego in front of 55,000 people (headlining). Don asked about Elliott’s famous Union Jack t-shirts. They still have replicas, but the original was given away to a charity for an auction. He talked about how bands don’t get paid instantly, so that is why he only had one of those shirts. Def Leppard had sold six million records, but each member was still living on 40 quid per week. The only reason that he bought the shirt is because the band was told that they were shooting a video the following day, and he had nothing to wear. He bought the shirt in a punk rock store for 6.99. The intention for this upcoming album was to record an EP, but they ended up with 15 songs. The band’s 50-city tour begins in June with Styx and Tesla supporting. A Def Leppard cruise will be going out in January of 2016.
GUESTS: Bobby Blitz (Overkill), Frankie Banalli (Quiet Riot)
FRANKIE BANALLI
Quiet Riot documentary – Well Now You’re Here, There’s No Way Back will be coming to DVD this summer. For more information, go to www.QuietRiotMovie.com. The reaction has been great from those who have seen it in theaters, and it is continuing to build. Going through the archives provided mixed emotions because of Kevin DuBrow’s passing.
BOBBY BLITZ
When asked if he would ever consider an Overkill documentary, he said that he doesn’t think so. There is something about their thing that was about catching a wave and getting some momentum. They’ve been keeping the momentum. They never rose to a very high level, so there isn’t a lot to talk about. Overkill has been going strong for over 30 years. They don’t pay attention to what everyone else is doing, they just do what works for them. Blitz talked about doing anything to try and keep his health (vitamins, eating right, etc.), but then it all gets washed away with booze at the end of the night. He told a story about going through the airport after just having taken a number of Airborne tablets because he didn’t know what they were at the time. By the time that he got to security, his mouth was foaming like a wild dog, and his eyes were tearing up.
Overkill will be going out in September with Symphony X on a co-headline theater tour.
