GUESTS: Chris Jericho (Fozzy), Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Killer Be Killed), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins)
BILLY CORGAN – Smashing Pumpkins going out on tour with Marilyn Manson. He and Manson had a break in their friendship over Rose McGowan. Tommy Lee played on the Pumpkins latest record, but won’t be touring with the band because of the Motley Crue tour. Even though Smashing Pumpkins are an alternative band, a lot of the influences came from hard rock and metal (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick). The first time that he met Robert Smith from The Cure, Smith was drunk and tried to kiss him. The kiss never happened. Smith ended up throwing up on Billy’s shoes.
MAX CAVALERA – Talked about playing with his brother in Cavalera Conspiracy. They had a falling out at one point, but eventually got back together after not speaking for ten years. He said that he hopes to do some more shows with Killer Be Killed. He’s doing a Cavalera tour with Corrosion Of Conformity, and then a Soulfly record is coming out in August. He said that he’d like to do dates with Killer Be Killed in November. His sons (who are now 18 and 19) are playing in their own metal band now. Max told a story about hanging out with Ministry and Eddie Vedder, and ended up throwing up on Vedder from being too drunk.
CHRIS JERICHO – Came out dressed with a scarf like David Lee Roth (on the Jimmy Kimmel appearance). Fozzy is going to be touring with Slash f. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators. Talked about playing Soundwave in Australia (where the heat is deadly). He talked about the odd pairing of the three guests, but said that their mutual love of metal bonds them. The first time that he met Ronnie James Dio (who he revered), he asked to take a picture with them. He ended up spilling the glass of red wine that he was holding on Dio’s stage costume. He apologized and asked Dio not to put a curse on him.
