In 1992, when Jackyl frontman, Jesse James Dupree, brandished a chainsaw during the band’s performance of “The Lumberjack,” some may have looked at them as a novelty act, but those who did are still being proven wrong to this day. Over 20 years later, Jackyl continues to put out great hard rock music. The band’s new single “Favorite Sin” off of their Best In Show album is the latest reminder of Jackyl’s staying power.
With a career that spans over two decades, Jackyl has overcome the odds that every artist faces, hard rock or otherwise, but what is most impressive about the band is the fact that they have always remained true to their sound, never once trying to follow the trends of the genre. While every successful artist has to overcome hurdles, Jackyl had the added challenge of launching their career amidst the grunge frenzy created by Nirvana’s Nevermind album.
This week, Jackyl announced to their nearly 53,000 Facebook followers that “Favorite Sin” was being shipped to radio next week. Within 24 hours, the video (see below) was viewed over 3000 times. The song features Jesse’s trademark vocal style, an edgy southern guitar sound and a catchy chorus that gets stuck in your head (in a good way).
If you are a lifelong Jackyl fan, a Full Throttle Saloon fan or just a fan of great hard rock music, you should definitely check out “Favorite Sin” – and make sure to listen to it…MIGHTY LOUD – PUH POW!
